Etching measuring 300 x 428 mm on a sheet measuring 370 x 460 mm. Second state, with the addition of the number ‘E1’ in the bottom right-hand corner, ‘R’ watermark. Thin paper with the top left margin partially gnawed; two small holes (one on the margin and one in the sky) have been restored. The linework is sharp, with heavy shading on the background of the canal (typical of many prints in the second state). Yellowing due to exposure. The print depicts the canal used by boats connecting Mestre to Venice, featuring the lagoon jetty at Mestre. The scene is brought to life by various ‘figures’ going about their daily business, as on a typical working day. Bromberg (1974) no. 3; De Vesme (1906) no. 3; Montecucciìoli degli Erri (2002) no. 3.
